Water
Gardening and
supplies information:
It
is quite a common dream to the greater part of the gardeners to have a nice clean
pond in the middle of
their gardens but trying to make this dream come true they may come
across some pitfalls.
But
to an experienced gardener not beginners who knows how to handle
this correctly water gardening
might turn out to be a very
worthwhile and rewarding
project, and will provide
the people who enjoy the benefits of it with a perfect way
of relaxation
and pleasant emotions.
Regardless
of the size of your garden – even if it is a really
small one and doesn’t need extensive watering,
you’ll still have
to do
some planning
and organize everything to every last
detail so
that the system
can function.
It
will be even easier if you already have a small lake, pond or even
a little stream passing through your garden because this will save
you a lot of water gardening
efforts.
Otherwise you will have to build up everything as it is the case
with most of the homeowners.
What
you have to consider before starting up the water garden is how to
obtain the water, where from as well as the matters about how to
dispose of it.
A
good idea is to check out some of the Do- it- yourself books that are on the market
related to the building of your own pond in the garden. There are
two main factors that you have to confine with.
The
first one is the shape and size of your garden and how the pond
will fit in it and the second one is your budget or in other words
the amount of money you are ready to spend on the whole
venture.
Having
considered all these questions, you can start with marking out the
edges and start digging to the depth that is necessary for your
pond. When you have finished this it is time to
line with pond liner and
weight down with plant pots and stones.
In
case you are planning to have some fish in your pond, you have to
create the necessary conditions for that. And next thing- you have
to find out which is the hardier fish that can survive through the
winter.
This
information will be available at your local aquarium and in some
ebooks and there you can
see the varieties of fish to choose from. Koi, and Goldfish are
the most popular varieties but
remember that Koi has the
ability to grow until 2 feet in length when fully mature,
so you
should think about leaving them some
more room to swim when they grow up.
Finally,
choose the plants that you want to have into and outside your pond.
Just try not to overpopulate your pond with plants because you risk
making it seem clattered.
